It has been a massive couple of Months at Area#61. Our Little community has added in more into the fold and we have watched some of our peeps achieve some extraordinary things in the last little while.
May: Masters League Online Comp
So straight after the opens we had some people compete in the Master’s league state of origin online competition.
It is a competition aimed at people over the age of 35 years.
Roy Willis, Jane Mayer, Bernie Bauemeister, Shannon Paull all competed. Much like the CrossFit Opens there was a workout released every week and the participants had 3 categories in which they entered – this determined the how hard each movement was in each workout (Soldier, Warrior or Hero depending on ability).
The competition is aimed to be fun, non-intimidating and the needs of masters athletes have been carefully reflected in their programming. Master League Athletes are all in age Categories.
State of Origin is in three stages.
First stage>Online Comp> Second Stage > Invitationals.. The invitationals is a one day competition that is held in June >Stage Three The top 2 athletes from their age group & division qualify to represent their State/City to compete for the STATE OF ORIGIN/REGIONAL CUP Games.
The team did a stellar job! We are super proud of their efforts, they turned up every week and performed the workouts to the best of their ability, they grew as athletes and I cannot wait to see what they can do next year.
One in particular did very well, Jane ( competed in the 50-59 years category) she qualified for the regional and won her category.
She got two personal bests on the day on her snatch and clean and Jerk!
Jane will now go on to compete in Stage three in Queensland in October.
